53 Kane County Schools participated in Walk to School Day. The Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium made $300 mini-grants available to participating school PTOs. Each school planned their own event. Here are some highlights:
- At Brady Elementary School, Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner walked to school with students.
- Kane County Board Chairman, Karen McConnaughay participated in Walk to School Day with Fabyan Elementary School students in Geneva.
- In Batavia, Mayor Schielke participated in events at Storm and Alice Gustafson Elementary Schools.
- At Century Oaks Elementary School in Elgin, Mayor Kaptain and U-46 Superintendent, Dr. Torres walked with students.
