The community garden is a collaborative effort between the City of Aurora, Family Focus Aurora, McCarty Burlington Neighborhood and Brady and Rollins elementary schools. The City of Aurora received funding from the Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium to create the Aurora Community Garden Network. The McCarty Burlington Neighborhood Community Garden is located at Claim and Union Street.
Neighborhood residents and local school children cleared the vacant lot, planted and cared for the garden. And now it is time for harvest! Children involved in the Youth Development Program harvested the wide array of vegetables from the garden and enjoyed sampling and making salads with their produce.
